Digital Magazine Retirement

On the morning of 7/6/15, an official announcement was made concerning the future of the bi-monthly/seasonal digital publication released by Fishing-Headquarters Online Magazine.

I am officially retiring from editing and managing the digital publication. We will no longer be releasing this product, and our 5 season run with it has concluded. With my personal fishing interests gone elsewhere, and having more opportunities as a contributor and featured writer with others, I no longer have the time and motivation to continue with this time consuming extracurricular activity of layout and design.

This decision has been biting at me for the last few months. I’ve been hinting to some folks that it may happen, but I just didn’t know when. Burnout is the main culprit. Meeting deadlines and coordinating lineups and with contributors is another. The growing corporatization of the fishing world, which has a damaging effect on fishermen and creates egos (look ALL OVER facebook), has lessened my motivations and continued interest with publication operations as well. Anglers aren’t billboards and I want no part of this in my fishing world. Having never been paid a single penny through this extracurricular from sponsors and partners, dropping this product to focus more on my regular day job and business, and a fledgling bass fishing guide service is an easy decision I can afford to make.

I hate asking people for free contributions when I still don’t believe I help and promote these good people and friends enough in return. I want to thank all the people who helped me make this idea happen, and last for almost 5 full years. Work that encompassed 23 magazine issues of quality fishing content. Their showcases have led them to new opportunities in fishing as well. I never expected a hobby to become a full time responsibility. And I never expected for this to grow in popularity like it did.

Moving forward, I will continue with my ownership and editor role with the website at www.fishing-headquarters.com. I will continue to carry the same sponsors and advertising partners here online, and will do my best to help promote their brands and products on our media network. Articles, stories and anything relevant and entertaining from myself & team will continue to be posted and showcased online on a weekly and sometimes daily basis. Our presence is still going to be well known across the internet.

Fishing-Headquarters Online Magazine isn’t going anywhere. Things online will remain the same. We’re just lessening the workload and burden of having to publish 120 page digital magazines every 2 months. The website still functions as a web publication and receives the higher volume of traffic and viewer engagement to continue making this be worthwhile (less than a million readers per season for those wondering). I’m happy working with this website only, as it doesn’t cut into my work and increasingly demanding fishing schedule.

For the future of our publication e-mail subscribers, your information is always kept confidential and we value your support and fishing demographic input from these last 5 seasons. Your information will be auto-transferred to the website’s mailing list, where registration field is located on the right sidebar of all pages. You will continue to receive quality e-mails weekly and sometimes daily, and will have the option to unsubscribe yourselves if you don’t like receiving FREE fishing content.

An era has ended, but we’re not done with what we’ve been building these last several years….. especially me!

Thank you all!
