Introduction to Dynamic Lures

Owned and operated by Brian Alano, of Grand Junction, CO, Dynamic Lures entered the fishing industry with the sole intent to revolutionize fishing and outdoor products as we currently know them. Dynamic Lures was created to develop more user-friendly fishing lures and tackle, and place emphasis on highest quality at the lowest price.

upload4Fishing-Headquarters began using Dynamic Lures products in spring 2014 on a trial basis and the results have been stellar with their variety of crankbaits and jerkbaits designed for the bass and walleye fishing we do. The results we had with them and the numbers of giant smallmouth bass we caught was enough to convince us that we needed to take this relationship further.

Dynamic Lures strives to collaborate with anglers of all skill levels and demographics to find the ideas and demands of the fishing community. For us personally, it’s the suspending jerkbait. If you are looking for a company that dedicates themselves to developing advancements and innovations in fishing products, look no further than Dynamic Lures.

Throughout the 2014 season, our priority was to fish with their suspending jerkbaits such as the J Spec, Travado, and Travado DP.

Dynamic Lures J Spec

The Dynamic Lures J-Spec is the Ultimate 3 inch jerkbait. Retailing at $7.95, this stunning lure is the prime example of innovation. Professionally designed with an action and feel that has been tested extensively, its unique size and shape produce an erratic action that triggers aggressive bites. With great suspending action the J-Spec is a great choice to use when targeting smallmouth bass in the shallows, and casting for walleyes. The J Spec suspending jerkbait rivals the best suspending hard baits on the market today.

I fish suspending jerkbaits about 50% of the time and always have at least a few different types tied onto my rods year-round. From Alano’s color options, my favorites are Ghost Fish, Holo Gold, and Chartreuse Shad. I typically work the J Spec on 7 foot medium heavy action spinning rods and reels with 8 lb monofilament with sharp tugs. The aggressiveness of each jerk and the length of the pause between them varies largely by water temperature and by the stage of any weather front pushing through. Cool water temperatures and post-frontal conditions call for a very slow approach while actively feeding smallmouths and warm water situations demand aggressive techniques. In 2014, the J Spec accounted for several smallmouths up to 20 inches.

Dynamic Lures Travado

Available at $8.95, the Dynamic Lures Travado is a short lip jerkbait that suits best for shallow to mid depth presentations. With an average diving depth of 3 to 5 feet, it casts like a bullet at 3/8 oz with medium heavy action casting gear with 10 and 12 lb. copolymers. I’ve been using the Travado in spring and fall in colder water temperatures as a search bait to find where the feeding wolfpacks of smallmouths are located and aggressive power fishing techniques must be employed.

The Travado’s erratic darting action and holographic color patterns appeal well to coldfront smallmouth bass. Known to draw slashing strikes, enticed by its rattle chamber and suspending profile, the Travado is an exceptionally versatile lure that can be used for pulling up fish suspended in deep water or shallow water. In 2014, the Travado caught some of my largest smallmouths of the year, as large as 21 inches.

Dynamic Lures Travado DP

The Dynamic Lures Travado DP is a deep diving suspending jerkbait and hybrid crankbait designed for deeper casting and trolling applications. Throughout 2014, I used this bait while casting deep weedlines near open water for northern pike, and single line trolling on the waters of Northwest Ontario for northern pike and walleyes.

The Travado DP has a diving depth of 6-10ft while casting, and 10-15ft when trolled between 3 and 5 mph. Travado DP anglers will come to love the true swimming action this lure possesses. The Travado DP is fun to troll with, and can be used at high speeds that it does not burn out like other deep divers have the tendency to do. During our single line trolling fun, it caught walleyes up to 25 inches.

All Dynamic Lures suspending jerkbaits come with high quality, chemically sharpened treble hooks. They’re sharp and stick each fish that strikes, thus there is no need to replace with specialty replacement hooks by other brands.
