Built to take on high-powered species such as steelhead, musky, blue cats, and striped bass, the brand new Monster reel gets its name from its very large spool that is capable of launching the baits that entice these battling beasts – while providing the line capacity to keep up with the line torching long runs they often make.
Monster holds 210 yards of 14-pound test line on a relatively low profile frame. It’s built of tough aluminum, and protected by Saltguard 2.0, which contains a Quantum exclusive SCR Alloy that is free of impurities that lead to rust in lesser built reels. The SCR Alloy is then covered in Quantum’s proprietary coating process to further prevent rust and assure long-range performance.
Inside Monster’s salt-protected chamber is a Performance Tuned Carbon Stainless Ceramic (CSC) drag system that resists heat and warping when a monster steelhead or musky makes a line-testing run away from the boat. Furthermore, speaking of drag, Monster delivers a best-in-class 23 to 26 pounds of lockdown, and up to 34”of line pick-up with every turn of the oversized 95mm handle.
Available in both right and left-handed models, in 7.1:1 and 6.4:1 gear ratios, an internally housed centrifugal braking system allows for precision cast control, and a heavy duty brass main gear, pinion and drive shaft assure smoothness and long term I-beam like durability.
